Ecola School of Ministry!

This year Ecola launched the first large scale new program in the history of the school. The new School of Ministry opened its doors last fall to a class of 25. The students had a full curriculum of subjects in four primary areas, as well as a number of practical areas of training. The subjects include Philosophy of Ministry, Doctrine and Theology, Bible Book Studies, and Ministry Skills and Disciplines. The teaching in each of these areas is given with a view to how these various subjects relate to ministry and missions. A printout of the curriculum is included in this report.

Practical training includes a writing class, leadership training, visiting ministries, and direct leadership experience in working with first year students. Each participant is involved in the leadership of a prayer group, and leadership of an outreach team. Each shares a devotional with the first year class, offers to lead a book study, has the opportunity to mentor first-year students, and other leadership activities. We have also included a debrief segment in the program where students interact with staff for feedback and encouragement.

We have continued to use several of the students in this program as interns. However, to avoid confusion, we renamed the positions "Ecola Assistants." We have the option of recruiting up to 12 students for various areas of service, such as Resident Assistant in the dorm or office helper. The program worked well this year, and made it financially possible for a number of students to attend the second year.
