Ecola routinely schedules activities that the entire student body is invited to attend. These activities vary widely from hikes and ultimate frisbee to movie nights and dessert banquets. These activities change every year, but students can expect scheduled activities every week or two during the year.

In addition to scheduled events, the beautiful Oregon Coast offers a host of opportunities for recreation. The Ecola campus is situated only a block from one of the most rugged and beautiful shorelines in the U.S. The Pacific Ocean is cold and sometimes quite rough, but with proper equipment and precautions students can enjoy surfing, skimboarding, whale watching, tide pools, hiking, biking, cave exploring, and other activities at little or no cost. The city park that adjoins the Ecola campus offers ball fields, tennis courts, and a brand new skateboarding facility. The Ecola campus features a recreation center with exercise equipment, indoor running track, basketball/volleyball court, mini-golf, table tennis, pool tables, fooseball, air hockey, carpet ball, and board game tables. A student lounge is available with couches, email computers, printers, and free wireless internet.
The land around Cannon Beach is rugged and mountainous with dense Pacific rainforests, replete with old-growth trees, clear streams, and abundant wildlife. Students can explore this natural beauty on many miles of hiking trails, or by mountain biking hundreds of miles of publicly accessible forestry roads. With proper licensing, adventurous students can enjoy catch-and-release fishing for wild Steelhead in the local rivers and streams.
Bicycles are a great eco-friendly way get around the small town of Cannon Beach, and there are some wonderful mountain biking opportunities in the area. Facilities are available for keeping bicycles, but students should be aware that the salty coast air may rapidly rust steel components so routine maintenance is often necessary. A full-service bicycle shop is located next to the campus.
